The Dead Poet Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AAABBCCDEFFGGHHIIBBJ JEDKKLMNOPQBB

Never again shall he with wizard sleightA
Ensare on threshold of his soul the brightA
Unearthly splendors that would oft alightA
And in the magic web of melodyB
Display them flashing as when they were freeB
Never again shall he be inflamed by SpringC
Soar to the gods to hear Apollo singC
Songs ah so sweet and with so tense a lyreD
They seemed as nectar flowing through white fireE
Never again shall he fold truths in rhymeF
And thrust them clinging 'neath the wings of TimeF
Shape a fine fancy with unfaltering tasteG
Fondling the colors that the sounds embracedG
Or with eyes dim from dreaming watch the slowH
Ascending sun's plume on a fervid glowH
And pinions palely spreading far awayI
Or hear at night when on his couch he layI
The moaning of the moonlit toiling seaB
With burden of o'erwhelming memoryB
Seeming to carry in an undertoneJ
Rumors of dauntless heroes he had knownJ
Who bearded even gods to glut desireE
And fought beneath the thunder of their ireD
Lured by the glamor of translunar dreamsK
He chased through mist the ever fleeting gleamsK
Aloof from wealth's red bubbled vanitiesL
Contented to be thought not worldly wiseM
Since he when flamed the mantle of the seerN
In mood majestic trod the magian sphereO
Where nature's veil at his authentic glanceP
Fell quivering from her fire bright countenanceQ
And heard like an abysmal heaving seaB
The movement of the Eternal HarmonyB
