Verses Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCC DEDEFF GHGHIJ GKGKLL

The sturdy rock for all his strengthA
By raging seas is rent in twaineB
The marble stone is pearst at lengthA
With littel drops of drizzling raineB
The ox doth yield unto the yokeC
The steele obeyeth the hammer strokeC
-
The stately stagge that seemes as stoutD
By yalping hounds at day is setE
The swiftest bird that flies aboutD
Is caught at length in fowler's netE
The greatest fish in deepest brookeF
Is soon deceiv'd by subtill hookeF
-
Yea man himselfe unto whose willG
All thinges are bounden to obeyH
For all his wit and worthie skillG
Doth fade at length and fall awayH
There nothing is but Time doth wasteI
The heavens the earth comsume at lastJ
-
But Virtue sits triumphing stillG
Upon the throne of glorious fameK
Though spiteful death man's body killG
Yet hurts he not his vertuous nameK
By life or death what so betidesL
The state of virtue never slidesL
