Lament eche one the blazing fireA
That downe from heaven cameB
And burnt S Powles his lofty spyreA
With lightnings furious flameB
Lament I sayC
Both night and dayC
Sith London's sins did cause the sameB
-
The fire came downe from heaven sooneD
But did not strike the crosseE
At fower in the afternooneD
To our most grevous losseE
Could nothing stayC
The sad decayC
The lead was molten into drosseE
-
For five long howers the fire did burnD
The roof and timbers strongF
The bells fell downe and we must mourneD
The wind it was so strongF
It made the fierA
To blaze the higherA
And doe the church still greater wrongF
-
O London think on thine amisseE

Remember how thou livde in blisseE
And layde in vices lapG
O now beginD
Repent thy sinD
And say it shall no more entrapG
