Rhyme Scheme: ABACADEDE ECEF GHGA IAJA CJCJC ADAAAHH

Ye moderne Lawreats famousd for your writA
VVho for your pregnance may in Delos dweltB
On your sweete lines eternitie doth sitA
Their browes enobling with applause and lawrellC
Triumph and honor ay inuest your writA
Ye fett your penns from wing of singing swanneD
VVhen sweetely warbling to her selfe she flotesE
Adowne Meander streames and like to OrganD
Imparts into her quils melodious notesE
-
Ye from the father of delicious phrasesE
Borrow such hymns as make your mistresse liueC
VVhen time is dead nay Hermes tunes the praisesE
VVhich ye in sonnets to your mistresse giueF
-
Report throughout our westerne Isle doth ringG
The sweete tun'd accents of your Delian sonnetrieH
VVhich to Apollos violine ye singG
Oh then your high straines drowne his melodieA
-
From forth dead sleepe of euerlasting darkeI
Fame with her trumps shrill summon hath awaktA
The Romayne Naso and the Tuskan PetrarchJ
Your spirit rauishing lines to wonder atA
-
Oh theame befitting high mus'd AstrophilC
He to your siluerie songs lent sweetest touchJ
Your songs the immortall spirit of your quillC
Oh pardon for my artlesse pen to muchJ
Doth dimme your glories through his infant skillC
-
Though may J not with you the spoyles deuideA
Ye sacred of spring of MnemosyneD
Of endlesse praise which haue your pens atchiu'dA
Your pens the trumps to immortallitieA
Yet be it leyfull that like maymes I bideA
Like brunts and skarres in your loues warfareH
And here though in my home spun verse of them declareH
