The Four Elements. Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCDEEFFGGAABBAAAA HHAA

The Fire Air Earth and water did contestA
Which was the strongest noblest and the bestA
Who was of greatest use and might'est forceB
In placide Terms they thought now to discourseB
That in due order each her turn should speakC
But enmity this amity did breakD
All would be chief and all scorn'd to be underE
Whence issu'd winds rains lightning thunderE
The quaking earth did groan the Sky lookt blackF
The Fire the forced Air in sunder crackF
The sea did threat the heav'ns the heavn's the earthG
All looked like a Chaos or new birthG
Fire broyled Earth scorched Earth it choakedA
Both by their darings water so provokedA
That roaring in it came and with its sourceB
Soon made the Combatants abate their forceB
The rumbling hissing puffing was so greatA
The worlds confusion it did seem to threatA
Till gentle Air Contention so abatedA
That betwixt hot and cold she arbitratedA
The others difference being less did ceaseH
All storms now laid and they in perfect peaceH
That Fire should first begin the rest consentA
The noblest and most active ElementA
