Sonnet Xxxviii. Winter Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBCABBDEFEGEF H

If he whose bosom with no transport swellsA
In vernal airs and hours commits the crimeB
Of sullenness to Nature 'gainst the TimeB
And its great RULER he alike rebelsC
Who seriousness and pious dread repelsA
And aweless gazes on the faded ClimeB
Dim in the gloom and pale in the hoar rimeB
That o'er the bleak and dreary prospect stealsD
Spring claims our tender grateful gay delightE
Winter our sympathy and sacred fearF
And sure the Hearts that pay not Pity's riteE
O'er wide calamity that careless hearG
Creation's wail neglect amid her blightE
THE SOLEMN LESSON OF THE RUIN'D YEARF
