Sonnet Xxxi. To The Departing Spirit Of An Alienated Friend Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABCBDEFEFE

O EVER DEAR thy precious vital powersA
Sink rapidly the long and dreary NightB
Brings scarce an hope that Morn's returning lightB
Shall dawn for THEE In such terrific hoursA
When yearning Fondness eagerly devoursA
Each moment of protracted life his flightB
The Rashly Chosen of thy heart has ta'enC
Where dances songs and theatres inviteB
EXPIRING SWEETNESS with indignant painD
I see him in the scenes where laughing glideE
Pleasure's light Forms see his eyes gaily glowF
Regardless of thy life's fast ebbing tideE
I hear him who shou'd droop in silent woeF
Declaim on Actors and on Taste decideE
