Sonnet Xl. December Morning[1] Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBACDCDCD E F

I love to rise ere gleams the tardy lightA
Winter's pale dawn and as warm fires illumeB
And cheerful tapers shine around the roomB
Thro' misty windows bend my musing sightA
Where round the dusky lawn the mansions whiteA
With shutters clos'd peer faintly thro' the gloomB
That slow recedes while yon grey spires assumeB
Rising from their dark pile an added heightA
By indistinctness given Then to decreeC
The grateful thoughts to GOD ere they unfoldD
To Friendship or the Muse or seek with gleeC
Wisdom's rich page O hours more worth than goldD
By whose blest use we lengthen Life and freeC
From drear decays of Age outlive the OldD
