Sonnet Lxxvii Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBACDCDEE

O hast thou seen a vernal Morning brightA
Gem every bank and trembling leaf with dewsB
Tinging the green fields with her amber huesB
Changing the leaden streams to lines of lightA
Then seen dull Clouds that shed untimely nightA
Roll envious on and every ray suffuseB
Till the chill'd Scenes their early beauty loseB
And faint and colourless no more inviteA
The glistening gaze of Joy 'Twas emblem justC
Of my youth's sun on which deep shadows fellD
Spread from the PALL OF FRIENDS and Grief's loud gustC
Resistless oft wou'd wasted tears compelD
Yet let me hope that on my darken'd daysE
Science and pious Trust may shed pervading raysE
