Sonnet Lxxii. Written In The Rainy Summer Of 1789 Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBABBAACDCDEE

Ah hapless JUNE circles yon lunar SphereA
Yet the dim Halo whose cold powers ordainB
Long o'er these vales shou'd sweep in misty trainB
The pale continuous showers that sullying smearA
Thy radiant lilies towering on the plainB
Bend low with rivel'd leaves of canker'd stainB
Thy drench'd and heavy rose Yet pledg'd and dearA
Fair Hope still holds the promise of the YearA
Suspends her anchor on the silver hornC
Of the next wexing Orb tho' JUNE thy DayD
Robb'd of its golden eve and rosy mornC
And gloomy as the Winter's rigid swayD
Leads sunless lingering disappointing HoursE
Thro' the song silent glades and dropping bowersE
