Sonnet Lxiv. To Mr. Henry Cary, On The Publication Of His Sonnets Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABCADEDEDE

Prais'd be the Poet who the Sonnet's claimA
Severest of the orders that belongB
Distinct and separate to the Delphic SongB
Shall venerate nor its appropriate nameA
Lawless assume Peculiar is its frameA
From him deriv'd who shunn'd the City ThrongB
And warbled sweet thy rocks and streams amongC
Lonely Valclusa and that Heir of FameA
Our greater MILTON hath by many a layD
Form'd on that arduous model fully shownE
That English Verse may happily displayD
Those strict energic measures which aloneE
Deserve the name of Sonnet and conveyD
A grandeur grace and spirit all their ownE
