Sonnet Ii Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBACDCDEF

The Future and its gifts alone we prizeA
Few joys the Present brings and those alloy'dB
Th' expected fulness leaves an aching voidB
But HOPE stands by and lifts her sunny eyesA
That gild the days to come She still reliesA
The Phantom HAPPINESS not thus shall glideB
Always from life Alas yet ill betideB
Austere Experience when she coldly triesA
In distant roses to discern the thornC
Ah is it wise to anticipate our painD
Arriv'd it then is soon enough to mournC
Nor call the dear Consoler false and vainD
When yet again shining through april tearsE
Those fair enlight'ning eyes beam on advancing YearsF
