The Spirit Is Near Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABCDAAEAAFAAGHAIA

Wrapped in personal pity betrayer sphinx slinksA
and eats he privately shuffles our motivationsA
I like the capability of my eyes the way theyB
brighten the woman on the curb by the churchC
She will burst alive in two minutes You cannotD
believe the wind last night The things it sellsA
The sun buffs the surface of technology acrossA
our city of cracks and cataracts which in turnE
ignores the shoes rubbing my feet from their bonesA
Enter some disease where the woman sellsA
her tears prior to civilization That moment is nowF
upon the funeral pyre In the crumblings amp ramblingsA
of old men seated in tired t shirts on stoopsA
everlasting they survey remainders of wars over livedG
and fat berries beyond the perimeter ripenedH
with blood brought back from dust fieldsA
by worms underfoot and pregnantI
We make wine to toast the cross and tender liarsA
