A Final Note Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCADCEFGHIJKGL

There is a deliberate pleasure in watchingA
someone smoke cigarettes Even the echoB
of that sentence smells like a stolen observationC
that the smoker is deeply darkly thinkingA
In books they brood on screen they are the rebelD
or daring victim being slowly unknowingly undoneC
I have always wanted to occupy my mouthE
in similar fashion and gather great thoughtsF
from the shadowed glow erasing my faceG
I suckle sweet cigar substitutes insteadH
savor the proximity of nature we're taughtI
Toast the lung in all its sanctity and encourageJ
its diverse role within ourselves As alwaysK
let the credits scroll down your faceG
before stubbing out the coalL
