Late in the day the fogA
wrung itself out like a spongeB
in glades of rainC
sieving the half invisibleD
cove with speartipsE
then in a liftingF
of wisps and scarves of smoke ringsE
from about the islands disclosingF
what had been waveringF
fishnet pliss as a smoothnessE
of peau de soie or just ironedG
percale with a tattingF
of foam out where the rocks areH
the sheened no color of itI
the bandings of platinumJ
and magnesium suffusingF
minute by minute with clandestineK
rose and violet with opalineL
nuance of milkweed a textureM
not to be spoken of above a whisperM
began all along the horizonN
gradually to unsealO
like the lip of a caveP
or of a cavernousE
single pearlQ
engendering seashellR
