Thoreau Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABACCDCDEDED

WHO nearer Nature s life would truly comeA
Must nearest come to him of whom I speakB
He all kinds knew the vocal and the dumbA
Masterful in genius was he and uniqueB
Patient sagacious tender frolicsomeA
This Concord Pan would oft his whistle takeC
And forth from wood and fen field hill and lakeC
Trooping around him in their several guiseD
The shy inhabitants their haunts forsakeC
Then he like sop man would satirizeD
Hold up the image wild to clearest viewE
Of undiscerning manhood s puzzled eyesD
And mocking say Lo mirrors here for youE
Be true as these if ye would be more wiseD
