Sonnet 16 Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCACDEDEFEF

WHEN I remember with what buoyant heartA
Midst war's alarms and woes of civil strifeB
In youthful eagerness thou didst departA
At peril of thy safety peace and lifeB
To nurse the wounded soldier swathe the deadC
How pierc d soon by fever's poisoned dartA
And brought unconscious home with wildered headC
Thou ever since mid languor and dull painD
To conquer fortune cherish kindred dearE
Hast with grave studies vexed a sprightly brainD
In myriad households kindled love and cheerE
Ne'er from thyself by Fame's loud trump beguiledF
Sounding in this and the farther hemisphereE
I press thee to my heart as Duty's faithful childF
