To Henry, Written To A Russian Air Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD AEAE FDFD AGAG HDHD

How I hail this morn's appearingA
It will thee my love restoreB
Safety danger past endearingA
Sure we meet to part no moreB
-
Fame is thine lo crowds aver itC
And her smile is dear to theeD
But I charge thee don't prefer itC
E'er again to home and meD
-
Thou thy country's call obeyingA
Hast her battles nobly foughtE
And thy ready zeal repayingA
See she gives the laurels soughtE
-
But have I no claims my roverF
Claims as fondly dear to theeD
Yes O yes and wandering overF
Thou wilt rest with love and meD
-
Ha methinks thy glances readingA
From thine eyes my fate I knowG
Duty still love's claim impedingA
Thou again must seek the foeG
-
Of my fears too dread revivalH
Yet with tearful joy I seeD
Duty is the only rivalH
Potent over love and meD
