On The Approach Of Autumn Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB BCBC DEDEFF

Farewell gay Summer now the changing windA
That Autumn brings commands thee to retreatB
It fades the roses which thy temples bindA
And the green sandals which adorn thy feetB
-
Now flies with thee the walk at eventideB
That favouring hour to rapt enthusiasts dearC
When most they love to seek the mountain sideB
And mark the pomp of twilight hastening nearC
-
Then fairy forms around the poet throngD
On every cloud a glowing charm he seesE
Sweet Evening these delights to thee belongD
But now alas comes Autumn's chilling breezeE
And early Night attendant on its swayF
Bears in her envious veil sweet Fancy's hour awayF
