Narcissus I no longer haunt the canyonsB
and the crypts I thrive and multiplyC
uncounted daughters are my new companionsB
-
We are the voicemail's ponderous replyC
to the computers making random callsD
We are the Muzak in the empty mallsD
the laughtrack on the reruns late at nightE
the distant siren's chilling lullabyC
the steady chirp of things that simplifyC
their scheduled lives You know I could reciteE
more but you never cared for my recitalsF
-
I do not miss you do not need you hereG
I can repeat the words of your disciplesF
telling lovers what they need to hearG
