Rhyme Scheme: ABCCADEE FGHHFEIE FJKKFEEE FFEEFELE

My Peggy is a young thingA
Just enter'd in her teensB
Fair as the day and sweet as MayC
Fair as the day and always gayC
My Peggy is a young thingA
And I'm not very auldD
Yet well I like to meet her atE
The wawking of the fauldE
-
My Peggy speaks sae sweetlyF
Whene'er we meet alaneG
I wish nae mair to lay my careH
I wish nae mair of a' that's rareH
My Peggy speaks sae sweetlyF
To a' the lave I'm cauldE
But she gars a' my spirits glowI
At wawking of the fauldE
-
My Peggy smiles sae kindlyF
Whene'er I whisper loveJ
That I look down on a' the townK
That I look down upon a crownK
My Peggy smiles sae kindlyF
It makes me blyth and bauldE
And naething gi'es me sic delightE
As wawking of the fauldE
-
My Peggy sings sae saftlyF
When on my pipe I playF
By a' the rest it is confestE
By a' the rest that she sings bestE
My Peggy sings sae saftlyF
And in her sangs are tauldE
With innocence the wale of senseL
At wawking of the fauldE
