Muy Vieja Mexicana Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGHIJKL MMNNOOPPLQRRSSNNTTUU VVWWXX YYLLZZ

I've seen her pass with eyes upon the roadA
An old bent woman in a bronze black shawlB
With skin as dried and wrinkled as a mummy'sC
As brown as a cigar box and her voiceD
Like the low vibrant strings of a guitarE
And I have fancied from the girls aboutF
What she was at their age what they will beG
When they are old as she But now she sitsH
And smokes away each night till dawn comes roundI
Thinking beside the pi ntilde ons' flame of daysJ
Long past and gone when she was young contentK
To be no longer young her epic doneL
-
For a woman has work and much to doM
And it's good at the last to know it's throughM
And still have time to sit aloneN
To have some time you can call your ownN
It's good at the last to know your mindO
And travel the paths that you traveled blindO
To see each turn and even makeP
Trips in the byways you did not takeP
But that 'por Dios' is over and doneL
It's pleasanter now in the way we've comeQ
It's good to smoke and none to sayR
What's to be done on the coming dayR
No mouths to feed or coat to mendS
And none to call till the last long endS
Though one have sons and friends of one's ownN
It's better at last to live aloneN
For a man must think of food to buyT
And a woman's thoughts may be wild and highT
But when she is young she must curb her prideU
And her heart is tamed for the child at her sideU
But when she is old her thoughts may goV
Wherever they will and none to knowV
And night is the time to think and dreamW
And not to get up with the dawn's first gleamW
Night is the time to laugh or weepX
And when dawn comes it is time to sleepX
-
When it's all over and there's none to careY
I mean to be like her and take my shareY
Of comfort when the long day's doneL
And smoke away the nights and see the sunL
Far off a shrivelled orange in a sky gone blackZ
Through eyes that open inward and look backZ
