Regrets Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAC DEDE FGFG AHAH HIHJ FKKK

As when the seaward ebbing tide doth pourA
Out by the low sand spacesB
The parting waves slip back to clasp the shoreA
With lingering embracesC
-
So in the tide of life that carries meD
From where thy true heart dwellsE
Waves of my thoughts and memories turn to theeD
With lessening farewellsE
-
Waving of hands dreams when the day forgetsF
A care half lost in caresG
The saddest of my verses dim regretsF
Thy name among my prayersG
-
I would the day might come so waited forA
So patiently besoughtH
When I returning should fill up once moreA
Thy desolated thoughtH
-
And fill thy loneliness that lies apartH
In still persistent painI
Shall I content thee O thou broken heartH
As the tide comes againJ
-
And brims the little sea shore lakes and setsF
Seaweeds afloat and fillsK
The silent pools rivers and rivuletsK
Among the inland hillsK
