After A Parting Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABACA DEDED FGFGF

Farewell has long been said I have forgone theeA
I never name thee evenB
But how shall I learn virtues and yet shun theeA
For thou art so near HeavenC
That heavenward meditations pause upon theeA
-
Thou dost beset the path to every shrineD
My trembling thoughts discernE
Thy goodness in the good for which I pineD
And if I turn from but one sin I turnE
Unto a smile of thineD
-
How shall I thrust thee apartF
Since all my growth tends to thee night and dayG
To thee faith hope and artF
Swift are the currents setting all one wayG
They draw my life my life out of my heartF
