Rhyme Scheme: A BCBC DEDE FGFG HBHB IJIJ

TO SHAKESPEAREA
-
Longer than thine than thineB
Is now my time of life and thus thy yearsC
Seem to be clasped and harboured within mineB
O how ignoble this my clasp appearsC
-
Thy unprophetic birthD
Thy darkling death living I might have seenE
That cradle marked those labours closed that earthD
O first O last O infinite betweenE
-
Now that my life has sharedF
Thy dedicated date O mortal twiceG
To what all vain embrace shall be comparedF
My lean enclosure of thy paradiseG
-
To ignorant arms that foldH
A poet to a foolish breast The LineB
That is not with the world within its holdH
So days with days my days encompass thineB
-
Child Stripling Man the sodI
Might I talk little language to thee poreJ
On thy last silence O thou city of GodI
My waste lies after thee and lies beforeJ
