Audemus dicere 'Pater Noster ' CANON OF THE MASSA
-
There is a bolder wayB
There is a wilder enterprise than thisC
All human iteration day by dayB
Courage mankind Restore Him what is HisD
-
Out of His mouth were givenE
These phrases O replace them whence they cameF
He only knows our inconceivable HeavenE
Our hidden Father and the unspoken NameF
-
Our trespasses our breadG
The will inexorable yet imploredH
The miracle words that are and are not saidG
Charged with the unknown purpose of their LordH
-
Forgive give lead us notI
Speak them by Him O man the unawareJ
Speak by that dear tongue though thou know not whatK
Shuddering through the paradox of prayerJ
