Two o'clock the morning of October thA

To her accustomed eyesB
The midnight morning brought not such a dreadC
As thrills the chance awakened head that liesB
In trivial sleep on the habitual bedC

'Twas yet some hours ere lightD
And many many many a break of dayE
Had she outwatched the dying but this nightD
Shortened her vigil was briefer the wayE

By dial of the clockF
'Twas day in the dark above her lonely headC
This day thou shalt be with Me Ere the cockF
Announced that day she met the Immortal DeadC
