Veterans Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEC AFGDEH AIJDEJ

When the last charge soundsA
And the battle thunders o'er the plainB
Thunders o'er the trenches where the red streams flowC
Will it not be well with usD
Veterans veteransE
If beneath your torn old flag we burst upon the foeC
-
When the last post soundsA
And the night is on the battle fieldF
Night and rest at last from all the tumult of our warsG
Will it not be well with usD
Veterans veteransE
If with duty done like yours we lie beneath the starsH
-
When the great r veill soundsA
For the terrible last SabbathI
All the legions of the dead shall hear the trumpet ringJ
Will it not be well with usD
Veterans veteransE
If beneath your torn old flag we rise to meet our KingJ
