IA
-
There is one road one only to the LightB
A narrow way but Freedom walks thereinC
A straight firm road through Chaos and old NightB
And all these wandering Jack o Lents of SinC
-
It is the road of Law where Pilate staysD
To hear at last the answer to his cryA
And mighty sages groping through their mazeD
Of eager questions hear a child replyA
-
Truth What is Truth Come look upon my tablesE
Begin at your beginnings once againF
Twice one is two Though all the rest be fablesE
Here's one poor glimpse of Truth to keep you saneG
-
For Truth at first is clean accord with factH
Whether in line or thought or word or actH
-

-
Then by those first those clean precise accordsI
Build to the Lord your temples and your songJ
The curves of beauty music's wedded chordsI
Resolving into heaven all hate and wrongJ
-
Let harmonies of colour marry and followK
And breaking waves in a rhythmic dance ensueL
And all your thought fly free as the wings of the swallowK
Whose arrowy curves obey their measure tooL
-
Then shall the marching stars and tides befriend youL
And your own heart and the world's heart pulse in rhymeM
Then shall the mob of the passions that would rend youL
Crown you their Captain and march on in timeM
-
So shall you repossess your struggling soulN
Conquer your world and find the eternal goalN
