The Battle At Saarburg Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFFEEGEH

The earth grows moldy in fogA
The evening is as oppressive as leadB
Electric sparks crackle and whimper all aroundC
Breaking everything in twoD
Like wretched hobosE
Cities are smoking on the horizonF
I lie God forsakenF
In the rattling front line of defendersE
Many copper enemy birdsE
Buzz around heart and brainG
I stand firm in the graynessE
And defy deathH
