The Athlete Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGHIJKELMNHOP

A man walked back and forth in his torn slippersA
In the small roomB
He inhabitedC
He thought about the eventsD
About which he was informed by the evening paperE
And sadly yawned the way only that man yawnsF
Who has read much that is strangeG
And the thought suddenly overcame himH
Like a timid person who gets goosefleshI
And the way the person who stuffs himselfJ
Starts to burpK
Like a mother in laborE
The great yawn might perhaps be a signL
A nod from fateM
To lie down to restN
And the thought would not leave himH
And then he began to undressO
When he was stark naked he lifted somethingP
