Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGHIJKELMNHOPA man walked back and forth in his torn slippers | A |
In the small room | B |
He inhabited | C |
He thought about the events | D |
About which he was informed by the evening paper | E |
And sadly yawned the way only that man yawns | F |
Who has read much that is strange | G |
And the thought suddenly overcame him | H |
Like a timid person who gets gooseflesh | I |
And the way the person who stuffs himself | J |
Starts to burp | K |
Like a mother in labor | E |
The great yawn might perhaps be a sign | L |
A nod from fate | M |
To lie down to rest | N |
And the thought would not leave him | H |
And then he began to undress | O |
When he was stark naked he lifted something | P |
