After Combat Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGFHIFJKL

In the sky the howitzers no longer explodeA
The cannoneers rest next to their gunsB
The infantry pitch tents nowC
And the pale moon slowly risesD
On yellow fields in red trousers the French are ablazeE
Ashen pale from death and powderF
Among them German medics squatG
The day becomes grayer its sun redderF
Field kitchens steam Towns are put to the torchH
Broken carts stand at roadsidesI
Panting cyclists hot and tanned loiterF
At a scorched wooden fenceJ
And orderlies are already movingK
From regiment to divisionL
