Reflections Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDEAE FGHGIJBJ KLMLEAAA DNBNKOAOOn the margin of a lakelet | A |
In a rugged mountain clime | B |
Where precipice and pinnacle | C |
Of countenance sublime | B |
Cast their weird austere reflections | D |
In the water's glistening sheen | E |
I strolled in contemplative mood | A |
Both pensive and serene | E |
- | |
As in a crystal mirror | F |
In that lakelet's placid face | G |
I saw the mountains upside down | H |
With all their pristine grace | G |
I saw each cliff and point of rocks | I |
I saw the stately pine | J |
Inverted in fantastic form | B |
Below the water line | J |
- | |
I paused in admiration | K |
And with calm complacency | L |
I marveled at this photograph | M |
From nature's gallery | L |
And as my eyes surveyed the scene | E |
With solemn grandeur fraught | A |
This simile flashed through my mind | A |
As instantly as thought | A |
- | |
As the stern majestic mountains | D |
Without error or mistake | N |
Were reflected in the bosom | B |
Of that cool pellucid lake | N |
So our every thought and action | K |
Be it deed of hate or love | O |
May be photographed in record | A |
In that gallery above | O |
