The Death Of Grandfather Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDED FGFH IJIJ

We waited commonly for sleep or even deathA
The instances were wearisome as agesB
But suddenly the wind's refreshing breathA
Touched through the window the Holy Bible's pagesB
-
An old man goes there who's now all white hairedC
With rapid steps and merry eyes aloneD
He smiles to us and often calls with handE
And leaves us with a gait that is well knownD
-
And suddenly we all who watched the old man's trackF
Well recognized just him who now lay before usG
And turning in a sudden rapture backF
Beheld a corpse with eyes forever closedH
-
And it was good for us the soul's way to traceI
And in the leaving one to find the glee it's formingJ
The time had come Recall and love in graceI
And celebrate another house warmingJ
