Valedictory Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCDCEDE BFFBGHIBBIBJKJKKLLMN BOBPP KK HHBH

I had remarked how sharply one observesA
When life is disappearing round the curvesA
Of yet another corner out of sightB
I had remarked when it was 'good luck' and 'good night'B
And 'a good journey to you ' on her faceC
Certain enigmas penned in the hieroglyphsD
Of that half frown and queer fixed smile and traceC
Of clouded thought in those brown eyesE
Always so happily clear of hows and ifsD
My poor bleared mind and haunting whysE
-
There I stood holding her farewell handB
Pressing my life and soul and allF
The world to one good bye till smallF
And smaller pressed why there I'd standB
Dead when they vanished with the sight of herG
And I saw that she had grown awareH
Queer puzzled face of other thingsI
Beyond the present and her own young speedB
Of yesterday and what new days might breedB
Monstrously when the future bringsI
A charger with your late lamented headB
Aware of other people's lives and willJ
Aware perhaps aware even of meK
The joyous hope of it But stillJ
I pitied her for it was sad to seeK
A goddess shorn of her divinityK
In the midst of her speed she had made pauseL
And doubts with all their threat of clawsL
Outstripped till now by her unconsciousnessM
Had seized on her she was proved mortal nowN
'Live only live For you were meantB
Never to know a thought's distressO
But a long glad astonishmentB
At the world's beauty and your ownP
The pity of you goddess grownP
Perplexed and mortal '-
Yet yet can it beK
That she is aware perhaps even of meK
-
And life recedes recedes the curve is bareH
My handkerchief flutters blankly in the airH
And the question rumbles in the voidB
Was she aware was she after all awareH
