Stanzas Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCD EFEFGHGH IJIJKLKL

Thought is an unseen net wherein our mindA
Is taken and vainly struggles to be freeB
Words that should loose our spirit do but bindA
New fetters on our hoped for libertyB
And action bears us onward like a streamC
Past fabulous shores scarce seen in our swift courseD
Glorious and yet its headlong currents seemC
Backwaters of some nobler purer forceD
-
There are slow curves more subtle far than thoughtE
That stoop to carry the grace of a girl's breastF
And hanging flowers so exquisitely wroughtE
In airy metal that they seem possessedF
Of souls and there are distant hills that liftG
The shoulder of a goddess towards the lightH
And arrowy trees sudden and sharp and swiftG
Piercing the spirit deeply with delightH
-
Would I might make these miracles my ownI
Like a pure angel thinking colour and formJ
Hardening to rage in a flame of chiselled stoneI
Spilling my love like sunlight golden and warmJ
On noonday flowers speaking the song of birdsK
Among the branches whispering the fall of rainL
Beyond all thought past action and past wordsK
I would live in beauty free from self and painL
