How Can We Fool The Rooster? Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A BCDCEFGF HIHIJ HKEKLEME KNONJ

Written when the clock was set ahead one hour on AprilA
-
-
Our Rooster wakes at half past fiveB
And crows with all his mightC
He tries to wake the people upD
Before the day is lightC
When Daddy hears the rooster crowE
He knows he should awakeF
And light the kitchen fire so MaG
Can cook the Johnny cakeF
-
Now maybe we can fool my DadH
That it's half past five when it's half past fourI
And maybe the system's the best we have hadH
To fool some thousands of people or moreI
But how can we fool that roosterJ
-
I have always thought our rooster hadH
A clock inside of his headK
And I don't know how we can fix it soE
We can set the clock aheadK
I asked my Dad and he said to meL
Why son you surely knowE
A rooster's instinct wakens himM
And tells him when to crowE
-
Now the hands of the clock we can turn aheadK
We can fool the people and feel contentN
But the thing that worries me night and dayO
And on which my entire thought is bentN
Is how can we fool that roosterJ
