Epitaph Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCE FGFG

Our loved ones lay them down to sleepA
And leave us here to grieve and mournB
While we our silent watches keepA
O'er their low graves whence they are bourneB
Some heroes are in battle slainC
Their names are honored far and nearD
While others die on beds of painC
And no sad mourner sheds a tearE
-
This day we honor each and allF
Whose soul has left its temporal caseG
And be he great or be he smallF
We'll reverence his resting placeG
