Written for the first thrift stamp driveA
-
-
I want to be a soldierB
And march away to FranceC
I want to find a wicked HunD
And shoot him in the pantsE
-
I want to be a soldierB
And wear a khaki suitF
I want to have a sword and gunD
And all the Boches shootF
-
I want to be a soldierB
And have an aeroplaneD
To drop bombs on the German townsG
And fly back home againD
-
I want to be a soldierB
And do my little bitH
My country needs brave fighting menD
While here at home I sitH
-
Some day I'll be a big big manD
I'll go to war and fightI
The wicked Hun or any oneD
Who does not do what's rightI
-
But now the only way for meJ
To help my country winD
Is save my coin and buy thrift stampsK
So boys let's save our tinD
