Prison Song Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AAABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQ

The skin ripples over my body like moon wooed waterA
rearing to escape me Where could it find anotherA
animal as naked as the one it hates to coverA
Once it told me what was happening outsideB
who was attacking who caressing and what the airC
was doing to feed or freeze me Now I wake upD
dark at night in a textureless ocean of ignoranceE
or fruit bites back and water bruises like a stoneF
It s jealousy because I look for other tools to knowG
with and other armor better girded to my wishH
So let it lie turn off the clues or try to leaveI
sewn on me seamless like those painful shirtsJ
the body hating saints wore the sheath of hellK
is pierced to my darkness nonetheless what traitorsL
labor in my face what hints they smuggle throughM
its arching guard But even in the night it jailsN
with nothing but its lies and silences to feed uponO
the jail itself can make a scenery sing prison songsP
and set off fireworks to praise a homemade dayQ
