Internal Migration: On Being On Tour Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGHIJKLDMNOPQRS TUVWVVVVI

As an American traveler I haveA
to remember not to get actionably madB
about the way things are around hereC
Tomorrow I ll be a thousand miles awayD
from the way it is around here I willE
keep my temper I will not kill the dogF
next door nor will I kill the next door wifeG
both of whom are crazy and aggressiveH
and think they live at the center of cultureI
like everyone else in this college townJ
This is because I m leaving I m taking offK
by car by light plane by jet by taxicabL
for some place else a thousand miles awayD
so I caution myself control your rageM
even if it causes a slight heart attackN
Stay out of jail tonight before you leaveO
and don t get obstreperous in transit tomorrowP
so as to stay out of jail on arrival tomorrow nightQ
Think the new handcuffs are sharp insideR
and meant to cut the wrists You re not too oldS
to be raped in their filthy overcrowded jailsT
and you ll lose your glasses and false teethU
How would you eat study and beV
a traveling lecturer if you got out alive and saneW
So remember to leave this place peacefullyV
it s only Asshole State University at NowheresvilleV
and remember to get to the next place peacefullyV
it s only Nowhere State University at AssholesvilleV
and you must travel from place to place for food and shelterI
