Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGHIJKLDMNOPQRS TUVWVVVVIAs an American traveler I have | A |
to remember not to get actionably mad | B |
about the way things are around here | C |
Tomorrow I ll be a thousand miles away | D |
from the way it is around here I will | E |
keep my temper I will not kill the dog | F |
next door nor will I kill the next door wife | G |
both of whom are crazy and aggressive | H |
and think they live at the center of culture | I |
like everyone else in this college town | J |
This is because I m leaving I m taking off | K |
by car by light plane by jet by taxicab | L |
for some place else a thousand miles away | D |
so I caution myself control your rage | M |
even if it causes a slight heart attack | N |
Stay out of jail tonight before you leave | O |
and don t get obstreperous in transit tomorrow | P |
so as to stay out of jail on arrival tomorrow night | Q |
Think the new handcuffs are sharp inside | R |
and meant to cut the wrists You re not too old | S |
to be raped in their filthy overcrowded jails | T |
and you ll lose your glasses and false teeth | U |
How would you eat study and be | V |
a traveling lecturer if you got out alive and sane | W |
So remember to leave this place peacefully | V |
it s only Asshole State University at Nowheresville | V |
and remember to get to the next place peacefully | V |
it s only Nowhere State University at Assholesville | V |
and you must travel from place to place for food and shelter | I |
