Last time I saw my vinesA
I was years tallB
Last time I held loveC
I was years tallB
She gave her last breathD
While giving my brother lifeE
Luckily he lived to tell the taleF
-
My mother never left EarthG
My brother was my mother at her younger ageH
He was pretty although he was painI
-
I started creating love with every smile I receivedJ
My life became a taleF
Rebounding in tears inside as I saw my brother smilingK
I never surrendered hope for a brighter lampL
I kept on holding my inch candleM
As it all started becoming a taleF
Till my grumpy teacher torn my School trousersN
It repremended the thought of having no source of loveC
-
Suicide enrolled in my muddy thoughtsO
Till I saw my mother smiling through my brotherP
The candle lit in volumesQ

Poet's note: I wote this poem on the 29th of November for my friend Makhatshalala Yanga, when one day our teacher torn his school trousers and he was crying all day saying he misses his late mother. I felt really bad because he couldn't afford to get a new pair of trousers and I couldn't afford to get him a new one, and for the fact that I've got a mother and he doesn't have one. This poem means a lot to me cause he loves it a lot, having a brother that looks exactly like his mother was always a pain to him but after I wrote this poem he found the meaning of his brother's presence and that means a lot to me..
