| but as time goes on I don't get | C |
| young but old | A |

| My heart does not pay | D |
| Neither does it stay | D |
| But I know one day | D |
| It will be kept in a golden display | D |

| My heart is stiff like a rod | E |
| Hatred fills of like a flood | F |
| My blood still runs fast | G |
| But its not enough to bring it from | H |
| the mud | F |
