Pray Pray Let loose the bridle Look not downB
The humble horse alone has wisdom hereC
He knows where blackest the abysses leerC
And where the path in safety leads us downB
Pray and look upward to the mountain's crownB
The deep below is endless where you peerC
Stretch not the hand out as you pass for fearC
The added weight of that might plunge you downB
-
And check your thoughts' free flight too while you goD
Let all of Fancy's fluttering sails be furledE
Here where Death watches o'er the riven worldE

I lived to cross the bridge of ancient snowD
But what I saw my tongue no more can tellG
The angels only could rehearse that wellG

-
Behold blue Heaven in that deep abyssH
The sea is that Behold the long waves shineI
Watch how they rock that giant bird divineI
Whose swinging white wings wide horizons kissH
Is that an iceberg in the blue abyssH
No no a cloud Watch how 'tis veiling fineI
The sea the land out blotting every lineI
To drown it all in darkness soon I wisH
-
The lightning comes now Frightful is its sweepJ
But softly softly Watch my spur my whipK
I'll leap across unto that chasm's lipK
What still and chilling sternness great cliffs keepJ
Down there light calls to me Soon there I'll beL
Uncanny is such loneliness to meL
