Baktschi Serai By Night Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBA CDDCEE

From out the mosques the pious wend their wayA
Muezzin voices tremble through the nightB
Within the sky the pallid King of LightB
Wraps silvered ermine round him while he mayA
And Heaven's harem greets its star arrayA
One lone white cloud rests in the azure heightB
A veiled court lady in some sorrow's plightB
Whom cruel love and day have cast awayA
-
The mosques stand there and here tall cypress treesC
There mountains towering black as demons frownD
Which Lucifer in rage from God cast downD
Like sword blades lightning flickers over theseC
And on an Arab steed the wild Khan ridesE
Who goes to Baktschi Serai which night hidesE
