Flower Flower why repineA
God knows each creature's placeB
He hides within me when I shineA
And your leaves hide His faceB
-
And you are near as I to HimC
And you reveal as muchD
Of that eternal soundless hymnC
Man's words may never touchD
-
God sings to man through all my raysE
That wreathe the brow of nightF
And walks with me thro' all my waysE
The everlasting lightF
-
Flower Flower why repineC
He chose on lowly earthG
And not in heaven where I shineC
His Bethlehem and birthG
-
Flower Flower I see Him passH
Each hour of night and dayI
Down to an altar and a MassH
Go thou and fade awayI
-
Fade away upon His shrineC
Thy light is brighter farJ
Than all the light wherewith I shineC
In heaven as a starJ
