| Which God has placed before an unseen shrine | B |
| The Visible is but a fair bright vale | C |
| That winds around the great Invisible | D |
| The Finite it is nothing but a smile | E |
| That flashes from the face of Infinite | F |
| A smile with shadows on it and 'tis sad | G |
| Men bask beneath the smile but oft forget | H |
| The loving Face that very smile conceals | I |
| The Changeable is but the broidered robe | J |
| Enwrapped about the great Unchangeable | E |
| The Audible is but an echo faint | K |
| Low whispered from the far Inaudible | E |
| This earth is but an humble acolyte | L |
| A kneeling on the lowest altar step | M |
| Of this creation's temple at the Mass | N |
| Of Supernature just to ring the bell | E |
| At Sanctus Sanctus Sanctus while the world | O |
| Prepares its heart for consecration's hour | P |
| Nature is but the ever rustling veil | E |
| Which God is wearing like the Carmelite | L |
| Who hides her face behind her virgin veil | E |
| To keep it all unseen from mortal eyes | Q |
| Yet by her vigils and her holy prayers | R |
| And ceaseless sacrifices night and day | S |
| Shields souls from sin and many hearts from harm | T |
| - | |
| God hides in nature as a thought doth hide | U |
| In humbly sounding words and as the thought | V |
| Beats through the lowly word like pulse of heart | W |
| That giveth life and keepeth life alive | X |
| So God thro' nature works on ev'ry soul | E |
| For nature is His word so strangely writ | Y |
| In heav'n in all the letters of the stars | Z |
| Beneath the stars in alphabets of clouds | A2 |
| And on the seas in syllables of waves | B2 |
| And in the earth on all the leaves of flowers | C2 |
| And on the grasses and the stately trees | D2 |
| And on the rivers and the mournful rocks | E2 |
| The word is clearly written blest are they | S |
| Who read the word aright and understand | F2 |
| - | |
| For God is everywhere and He doth find | G2 |
| In every atom which His hand hath made | H2 |
| A shrine to hide His presence and reveal | E |
| His name love power to those who kneel | E |
| In holy faith upon this bright below | E |
| And lift their eyes thro' all this mystery | I2 |
| To catch the vision of the great beyond | J2 |
| - | |
| Yea nature is His shadow and how bright | L |
| Must that face be which such a shadow casts | K2 |
| We walk within it for we live and move | L2 |
| And have our being in His ev'rywhere | I2 |
| Why is God shy Why doth He hide Himself | M2 |
| The tiniest grain of sand on ocean's shore | I2 |
| Entemples Him the fragrance of the rose | N2 |
| Folds Him around as blessed incense folds | O2 |
| The altars of His Christ yet some will walk | P2 |
| Along the temple's wondrous vestibule | E |
| And look on and admire yet enter not | Q2 |
| To find within the Presence and the Light | L |
| Which sheds its rays on all that is without | R2 |
| And nature is His voice who list may hear | I2 |
| His name low murmured every everywhere | I2 |
| In songs of birds in rustle of the flowers | C2 |
| In swaying of the trees and on the seas | D2 |
| The blue lips of the wavelets tell the ships | S2 |
| That come and go His holy holy name | T2 |
| The winds or still or stormy breathe the same | T2 |
| And some have ears and yet they will not hear | I2 |
| The soundless voice re echoed everywhere | I2 |
| And some have hearts that never are enthrilled | R2 |
| By all the grand Hosannahs nature sings | U2 |
| List Sanctus Sanctus Sanctus without pause | V2 |
| Sounds sweetly out of all creation's heart | R2 |
| That hearts with power to love may echo back | W2 |
| Their Sanctus Sanctus Sanctus to the hymn | X2 |
