| Purer than thy own white snow | B |
| Nobler than thy mountains' height | C |
| Deeper than the ocean's flow | B |
| Stronger than thy own proud might | C |
| O Northland to thy sister land | D |
| Was late thy mercy's generous deed and grand | D |
| - | |
| Nigh twice ten years the sword was sheathed | E |
| Its mist of green o'er battle plain | F |
| For nigh two decades Spring had breathed | E |
| And yet the crimson life blood stain | F |
| From passive swards had never paled | G |
| Nor fields where all were brave and some had failed | G |
| - | |
| Between the Northland bride of snow | B |
| And Southland brightest sun's fair bride | H |
| Swept deepening ever in its flow | B |
| The stormy wake in war's dark tide | H |
| No hand might clasp across the tears | I |
| And blood and anguish of four deathless years | J |
| - | |
| When Summer like a rose in bloom | K |
| Had blossomed from the bud of Spring | L |
| Oh who could deem the dews of doom | K |
| Upon the blushing lips could cling | L |
| And who could believe its fragrant light | C |
| Would e'er be freighted with the breath of blight | C |
| - | |
| Yet o'er the Southland crept the spell | M |
| That e'en from out its brightness spread | N |
| And prostrate powerless she fell | M |
| Rachel like amid her dead | N |
| Her bravest fairest purest best | O |
| The waiting grave would welcome as its guest | O |
| - | |
| The Northland strong in love and great | P |
| Forgot the stormy days of strife | Q |
| Forgot that souls with dreams of hate | P |
| Or unforgiveness e'er were rife | Q |
| Forgotten was each thought and hushed | R |
| Save she was generous and her foe was crushed | R |
| - | |
| No hand might clasp from land to land | D |
| Yea there was one to bridge the tide | H |
| For at the touch of Mercy's hand | D |
| The North and South stood side by side | H |
| The Bride of Snow the Bride of Sun | S |
| In Charity's espousals are made one | S |
| - | |
| Thou givest back my sons again | T |
| The Southland to the Northland cries | U |
| For all my dead on battle plain | F |
| Thou biddest my dying now uprise | U |
| I still my sobs I cease my tears | I |
| And thou hast recompensed my anguished years | J |
| - | |
| Blessings on thine every wave | V |
| Blessings on thine every shore | W |
| Blessings that from sorrow save | V |
| Blessings giving more and more | W |
| For all thou gavest thy sister land | D |
| O Northland in thy generous deed and grand | D |
