Rhyme Scheme: ABABCCDD EAAEFGFG HIHIJKJK LMLMNONO PQPQRSKSK TUTVWXWX

Sometimes a single hourA
Rings thro' a long life timeB
As from a temple towerA
There often falls a chimeB
From blessed bells that seemsC
To fold in Heaven's dreamsC
Our spirits round a shrineD
Hath such an hour been thineD
-
Sometimes who knoweth whyE
One minute holds a powerA
That shadows every hourA
Dialed in life's skyE
A cloud that is a speckF
When seen from far awayG
May be a storm and wreckF
The joys of every dayG
-
Sometimes it seems not muchH
'Tis scarcely felt at allI
Grace gives a gentle touchH
To hearts for once and allI
Which in the spirit's strifeJ
May all unnoticed beK
And yet it rules a lifeJ
Hath this e'er come to theeK
-
Sometimes one little wordL
Whispered sweet and fleetM
That scarcely can be heardL
Our ears will sudden meetM
And all life's hours alongN
That whisper may vibrateO
And like a wizard's songN
Decide our ev'ry fateO
-
Sometimes a sudden lookP
That falleth from some faceQ
Will steal into each nookP
Of life and leave its traceQ
To haunt us to the lastR
And sway our ev'ry willS
Thro' all the days to beK
For goodness or for illS
Hath this e'er come to theeK
-
Sometimes one minute foldsT
The hearts of all the yearsU
Just like the heart that holdsT
The Infinite in tearsV
There be such thing as thisW
Who knoweth why or howX
A life of woe or blissW
Hangs on some little NowX
