Mobile Mystic Societies Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABCABCDEDEFGFGHIHIJK LKMNMNONOPCPQRQSCTCT UVUWXWXWTWTW| The olden golden stories of the world | A |
| That stirred the past | B |
| And now are dim as dreams | C |
| The lays and legends which the bards unfurled | A |
| In lines that last | B |
| All rhymed with glooms and gleams | C |
| Fragments and fancies writ on many a page | D |
| By deathless pen | E |
| And names and deeds that all along each age | D |
| Thrill hearts of men | E |
| And pictures erstwhile framed in sun or shade | F |
| Of many climes | G |
| And life's great poems that can never fade | F |
| Nor lose their chimes | G |
| And acts and facts that must forever ring | H |
| Like temple bells | I |
| That sound or seem to sound where angels sing | H |
| Vesper farewells | I |
| And scenes where smiles are strangely touching tears | J |
| 'Tis ever thus | K |
| Strange Mystics in the meeting of the years | L |
| Ye bring to us | K |
| All these and more ye make us smile and sigh | M |
| Strange power ye hold | N |
| When New Year kneels low in the star aisled sky | M |
| And asks the Old | N |
| To bless us all with love and life and light | O |
| And when they fold | N |
| Each other in their arms ye stir the sight | O |
| We look and lo | P |
| The past is passing and the present seems | C |
| To wish to go | P |
| Ye pass between them on your mystic way | Q |
| Thro' scene and scene | R |
| The Old Year marches through your ranks away | Q |
| To what has been | S |
| The while the pageant moves it scarcely seems | C |
| Apart of earth | T |
| The Old Year dies and heaven crowns with gleams | C |
| The New Year's birth | T |
| And you you crown yourselves with heaven's grace | U |
| To enter here | V |
| A prayer ascending from an orphan face | U |
| Or just one tear | W |
| May meet you in the years that are to be | X |
| A blessing rare | W |
| Ye pass beneath the arch of charity | X |
| Who passeth there | W |
| Is blest in heaven and is blest on earth | T |
| And God will care | W |
| Beyond the Old Year's death and New Year's birth | T |
| For each of you ye Mystics everywhere | W |
